Living With a Teenager

Over the past 2 weeks Doggy’s been changing drastically. At first I thought it was the slight change on his routine, I’ve been really busy lately and have shortened his morning run and play but kept the evening exercise untouched. There are a few behaviors that have been accentuated, like when I say “find it” he goes crazy, wouldn’t stop sniffing and wouldn’t come if called until he has found or I point where whatever “it” is, two weeks ago he would given up in less than a minute. He has also started to heard little dogs, any new puppy or smaller dog that comes to the park he would go and round it, if the puppy doesn’t follow or does what he wants he would then give little bites on its tail and bark, if that doesn’t work he would grab it by the tail until the owner interferes and grabs the puppy which usually ends up badly because the puppy is hanging and all dogs around including Doggy think it’s a game and try to catch it. Those behaviors do not necessary annoy me, I know that they are part of his essence as a Spanish Water Dog and honestly I do not plan to do much to moderate them, of course I call him when he gets over excited herding little dogs, don’t want him to go from puppies to people, there I draw the line. He now pees like a mature dog more often, I see the puppy giving up to the adolescent dog in the daily basis, makes me a little sad because I got him a little old and didn’t have the chance to enjoy much of the puppyhood, he’ll be a man in no time lol.
