Gourmet Cooking With 23thorns
I must confess to being a little taken aback. In my last post, I mentioned two minute noodles. Without any explanation. Sorry.
I try to be careful about this. If I am using words or concepts that I know are uniquely South African, I try my best to translate or explain. If that’s too tricky, I just avoid them.
This is why you will never read my absolutely fantastic post about the time I took 2kg of kudu biltong to a friend’s braai by mistake.

maybe because they are beef flavored?
LOL it’s the default lol
It’s called “ramen” here and is blamed on the Chinese. It comes in a brick and a “flavor packet”. Quality stuff and it is quick and easy. It is brain food and makes you smarter, otherwise why would all the college kids eat it? You can get them six for 99 cents.and one packet feeds one fatty or two skinnies.
They’re called ramen here too…..I had them once and honestly thought I probably would have had the same nutrition (and taste) if I’d soaked my paperback book in hot water and chewed the pages. But what do I know? I guess there ARE some good quickie noodles out there……..somewhere.

Thanks for sharing this …. now I understand why I think they are awful *smile
ahhh, ramen has saved the life of many a starving artist! poet too.
Actually, I was with you all the way until the two kilos of whatchamacallit. Is that what the kids are calling coke (note the lower case “c”) nowadays?
